Daan Teeuwissen
Daan Teeuwissen obtained his law degree at the University of Amsterdam in 1991, specializing in intellectual property law. In 1991 he started his career in an Amsterdam general practice law firm. In 1994 he continued his career as a trademark attorney in a large Dutch trademark firm. He passed the exams of the Benelux Association for Trademark Attorneys in 1995 and joined Knijff Trademark Attorneys in 1999 where he became a partner in 2000 and managing partner in 2005. Daan is responsible for the firm's relations with U.S. clients which include pharmaceutical, Information Technology and financial companies. He also heads up Knijff's Multisearch® EU trademark searching department.
For a number of years Daan was a member of the Board of the Benelux Association for Trademark attorneys. He has been serving on several committees of the International Trademark Association and was the vice-chairman of it's Famous and Well Known Marks Committee. He is also an active member of Marques, the European brand owners' organization. Currently, he is chairman of the Marques Education Team. He teaches a course on International and European Community trademark law at the professional education of the Dutch Association for Patent Attorneys and at the acclaimed Grotius Academy. Daan has acted as chair, moderator and speaker at several (international) IP conferences.
