The Olympic Games in Paris

The world's largest sporting event in one of the most beautiful cities in the world: a golden combination.

Stunning sports venues located in historic places and visitors from all over the world made the event a unique experience.

At Knijff, we also attended The Games. Naturally, we couldn't resist viewing the city through the lens of trademark law. It goes without saying that these are busy times for the legal department of the IOC: who wouldn't want to ride the wave of these Games' fame, with its distinctive and iconic logo?

Enforcing actions against all infringements and free-riders remains a challenging task. Despite the IOC's success in maintaining the strength of its trademarks and logos, occasionally a free-rider slips through the cracks. What else could we expect from the local businesses in Paris, who, understandably, also want to seize the opportunity to profit from the Games?

A few of the shop windows we came across below!
